What you would do.
- Design and build APIs other teams depend on
- Model data and write queries that stay fast
- Handle authentication, errors and edge cases
- Write tests and keep the service observable

- One backend language well, plus SQL
- API design judgement
- Understanding of caching, queues and where things break
